Introduction to The Open Mill Mixer


Open mill mixer is short for open rubber mixer. A type of rubber mixing machine with exposed rollers used in the rubber factory to prepare plasticized rubber, rubber compound, or for heat refining and molding.


The main working parts of the mill are two hollow rollers or drilled rollers that rotate in opposite directions. The front roller is called the front roller on the operator side. It can be moved back and forth horizontally by manual or electric action to adjust the roller pitch and adapt to Operational requirements; the rear roller is fixed and cannot be moved back and forth. The two rollers are generally the same in size, and each rotates at different speeds. The raw rubber or rubber material is drawn into the gap between the two rollers with the rotation of the rollers, and is subjected to strong shearing to achieve the purpose of plasticizing or mixing. Open mills are also used in plastics processing and other sectors.

On the calender production line, the open mill is in front of the calender and after the mixer. Its function is to mix and plasticize the uniformly mixed raw materials to provide a more uniformly mixed and plasticized melt for the calendered plastic products. When producing cable materials, the open mill can directly smelt and plasticize the powdery materials mixed according to the formula into molten materials, and then press and mold them into sheet-like tapes, so that the pelletizer can cut them into pellets. On the floor leather production line, it can directly provide the base coating with uniform mixing and plasticization for cloth leather. The recycled waste plastic film (sheet) can also be re-plasticized on an open mill.


The open mixing mill is simple in structure, easy to manufacture, easy to operate, easy to maintain and disassemble, so it is widely used in plastic products companies. The shortcoming is that the workers consume a lot of physical strength and need to use manual mixing to turn the mixed materials in a higher temperature environment, and the number of manual turning and mixing of plastic sheets has a greater impact on the quality of raw material mixing.
